How To Find The Right CBD

Let’s face it. Trying to find the right CBD out of the thousands out there can be difficult. That’s why we are here to help you find the tips and tricks on how to do just that. In this blog, we’ll be discussing the do’s and don’ts of CBD, so that you’re a wise consumer in the CBD market. Here are a few points that we will look at:
    1. Know the different types of CBD out there
    2. Look for certificates of analyses
    3. Third party lab testing
    4. Color & taste of CBD oil
    5. Packaging

1. Let’s start with the different types of CBD out there: broad spectrum, full spectrum, and isolate. This is the first step in knowing which CBD is right for you. When going through the plant extraction process, the manufacturer can choose to only extract CBD, everything including THC, or everything except the THC. This is basically the difference between each type. Isolate CBD is the plant extract that only includes CBD and no other terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids, or THC. The goodness of CBD stems from the fact that it is derived from the cannabis sativa hemp plant which carries hundreds of phyto cannabinoids which could potentially have a plethora of medicinal benefits.

By choosing to consume isolate CBD, you are eliminating the potential benefits of the other phytocompounds. The entourage effect is when CBD comes alongside other terpenes, cannabinoids, etc., which come together to interact and work more effectively together. You can’t get the entourage effect with isolate. Full and broad spectrum are the whole plant extracts. However, the only difference is that full spectrum has THC and broad spectrum does not. When it comes to choosing which is best, there are several ways to make this decision. If your workplace requires drug testing, it is best to choose broad spectrum. Even though THC comes in extremely low amounts in full spectrum, it can still show up on a test. Broad spectrum is also best when giving CBD to animals. THC can be toxic to animals which is why a CBD product that has 0 THC is the safest option.

2. Certificates of analyses are lab test results that should come alongside different products. Because CBD is not an FDA approved product, manufacturers and sellers could be misinforming customers on what exactly is in the product. When looking for a reputable brand, it is crucial for the products to either have a QR code, or a section on the website that is dedicated to CoA’s. These lab results not only demonstrate the components of the product, but it shows that the product went through rigorous testing for heavy metals, pesticides, THC levels, and a full cannabinoid/terpene profile. This document shows you whether or not the product you are choosing to purchase and consume is legitimate.

3. Similar to the CoA’s, verifying that your chosen brand partakes in third party lab testing is a vital step in delivering a safe and legitimate product. A brand can sell a CBD oil that claims to have 1000mg worth of CBD within the product, but that is solely a claim until it is verified by a lab which actually tests the concentration of said product.

4. The color of a CBD oil can tell you a lot about its potency and concentration. You should know that the lowest concentrations are lighter in color whereas the higher concentrations are usually a darker golden/green color. You should avoid a brand that has clear, or very light CBD oils. Taste is another good indicator of quality. Let’s be honest. CBD is not supposed to taste good. It is derived from a plant, so it is earthy and a bit bitter. Any brand claiming to have good tasting CBD oil is either using major sweeteners/artificial flavorings and is not using high quality ingredients.

5. Just by looking at the packaging, you can tell a lot about a brand. Here are some of the major points you should be paying attention to. The company should be very transparent, so the type of CBD used in the product should be labeled right at the front. The concentration should also be front and center as well. Also be sure to avoid products that state hemp seed oil. CBD oil is not the same as hemp seed oil. Of course, hemp seed oil can be a carrier oil which is what we use in our products, but it shouldn’t be the sole ingredient. Hemp seed oil is not a cannabinoid, it’s just the seed extract which is comparable to olive oil. It is optimal for product packaging to have QR codes that you can scan, so you can be taken directly to the CoA.

We at ReThink are proud to say that we offer some of the best high-quality CBD at a competitive price point. To us, transparency is key which is why we feel like we must keep our customers in the loop. All of our products have a QR code that takes you to the unique CoA. We only use broad spectrum CBD with zero THC. Not only do we have our products third party lab tested, we double test them; once for the initial raw product and another time for the final product. This ensures maximum honesty about what your given product truly contains. Now, you are ready to be a wise CBD consumer.
