The Stigma Around CBD

Although CBD products have been around for a few years now, there are still many people who are unsure about them. Let's Overcome the CBD Stigma.

There’s a CBD stigma around the plant and industry making people hesitant and perpetuating close-mindedness. Information can get murky on CBD, but some simple research can really put your mind at ease. In this blog, we’ll clear up misinformation and debunk some myths about CBD.

One very important thing to know right off the bat, both marijuana and hemp derive from the Cannabis Sativa family. Unfortunately, because of this one fact, people automatically associate CBD with marijuana. They know that marijuana gets you high, it’s illegal in many states and you smoke it for it to enter your system.

Marijuana vs. Hemp

Marijuana comes from the part of the plant that has the THC substance. This is what gives you that “high” feeling. It is overwhelming and overloading for your your endocannabinoid system. If the plant carries more than 0.3% of THC, it’s automatically classified as marijuana.

Now industrial hemp, where CBD comes from, is a completely different story. Hemp has to have less than 0.3% of THC in order for it to be legal. If CBD has more than 0.3% of THC, it cannot be produced and distributed.

CBD will not get you “high” because it is non intoxicating. Even the plants where CBD and marijuana come from are different in shapes and sizes.

The environments in which they grow are also very different. CBD actually counteracts the intoxicating effects of THC. ReThink’s products also have zero traces of THC, so rest assured you will not get high.

Fact: CBD is Legal.

CBD is also completely legal. Unlike marijuana, which is illegal in many states, CBD became completely legal in the US after the 2018 Farm Bill. The original Farm Bill was created during the Great Depression era and it was meant to help farmers with food supply during droughts.

It had been revised many times but in 2018, former President Trump signed the revised 2018 Farm Bill. This ensured that industrial hemp would be legal across the United States. CBD was taken off the list of schedule 1 illegal drugs.

You are now able to order products online and get them shipped to your door. No matter what state you live in. Most CBD products are even safe to travel with as well. It was really great news for the cannabis industry when the bill was signed. This will definitely help with overcoming the CBD stigma.

CBD, THC, & Drug Tests

Another major misconception is that CBD will show up on drug tests. Now this all depends on exactly what kind of CBD product you are purchasing. Full spectrum products may cause you to fail a drug test because they have traces of THC.

However, ReThink’s products are broad spectrum meaning that all THC is removed, so rest assured you’re not ingesting THC whatsoever.

The reason we don’t have THC in our products is because we want to make safe products for pets and assure any customers who are concerned about drug tests or ingesting THC. Our CO2 extraction process allows us to modify THC levels to ensure they’re always THC free.

The methods used to test the products also plays a big part. There are outdated testing methods that only test cannabinoids and it doesn’t give you the difference between CBD and THC. You want to make sure your product has zero THC.

Always make sure to read the labels on all CBD products. Because CBD is not FDA approved, labels aren’t always a genuine reflection of what’s inside the product. This is why you should only purchase CBD products with certificates of analysis (COA). This certificate shows you the lab results and what exactly is in the product.

Before taking a new vitamin or supplement, it’s wise to do your research before purchasing it. Not digging into the background of the product is what creates the CBD Stigmas and myths. In order to break the CBD Stigma, we should be open to talking about CBD and not make it taboo.

People use CBD for a wide variety of purposes as it works for many different things. CBD may help relieve anxiety, pain, inflammation, as well as help support sleep, and focus. These are just a few of the benefits CBD may offer.

Our goal at ReThink is not only to offer you the very best products but to also keep you informed. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about CBD. Just make sure you’re doing thorough research and of course, we are always here if you have any questions!
